Dr. Taylor Winkleman

Executive Director

Dr. W (Taylor Winkleman) is a veterinarian and former AAAS Congressional Fellow who has been teaching policy and infectious disease courses at Georgetown as an adjunct for two years. With the Vannevar Group, Dr. W is the Executive Director, ringleader, and cheerleader of this group. In her spare time, you can find her hanging from a trapeze bar or bouncing on a trampoline at TSNY-Washington DC.

Erin is a second-semester graduate student in the Biomedical Science Policy & Advocacy Program at Georgetown University. She received her B.S. from Ursinus College in Biology. At The Vannevar Group, Erin helps manage the website and works on the SPUD policy initiative. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and dog, Coco, as well as playing field hockey.

Gabriela Daszewska-Smith

Gabi is a second-semester graduate student in the Biomedical Science Policy & Advocacy Program at Georgetown University. She received her B.S. from Royal Holloway, University of London in Clinical Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience. Here at The Vannevar Group, Gabi manages outreach & communication and works on the Building BLOCKs policy group. Outside of class, Gabi works in a research lab studying congenital diaphragmatic hernias in neonates and enjoys spending time in nature with her pets.

Laurie is a graduate student in the Integrative Neuroscience program at Georgetown University. She received her B.A. in History from the University of California, Los Angeles and her M.A. in International Relations from Hult International Business School in London, England. At The Vannevar Group, Laurie works on the branding and graphics team as well as the SPUD policy initiative. When outside of intellectually engaging activities, you'll find Laurie at the beach or at a nature reserve.

Nick is a second year graduate student in the Biotechnology and Policy program at Georgetown University. He received his B.A. from Knox College in Biochemistry and Political Science. Nicholas works on branding and graphic design at The Vannevar Group and is a member of the Picking up STEAM policy group. While at Georgetown, Nick works at the Department of Energy's Building Technologies Office as an ORISE Science, Technology and Policy Fellow. In his free time, he enjoys camping with his dogs and making grilled cheese.

Lauryn is a second-semester graduate student in the Biomedical Science Policy & Advocacy Program at Georgetown University. She received her B.S. from Indiana University in Human Biology with minors in Psychology and Biotechnology. Here at The Vannevar Group, Lauryn manages all things content and works on the Picking up STEAM policy initiative. In her free time, she enjoys listening to alt-folk music, discovering new wine, and cycling.

Alyssa is a graduate student in Biomedical Science Policy and Advocacy Program. Within The Vannevar Group, she helps produce the podcast and works on the Momnibus Plus policy initiative. Outside of school, Alyssa is the senior clinical research coordinator for MedStar Georgetown's Transplant Institute.

Sabrina is a second-semester graduate student in the Biomedical Science Policy & Advocacy Program at Georgetown University. She received her B.S. from Cornell in Biology and Society. Here at The Vannevar Group, Sabrina produces the podcast and works on the Momnibus policy initiative. In her free time, she enjoys producing music, practicing yoga, and taking classes to become a certified doula.

Grant is a first year PhD student in Georgetown University's Global Infectious Disease program. He got his B.S. in Biology of Global Health from Georgetown University in 2019. At The Vannevar Group, Grant contributes to our outreach & communications efforts and the SpacePox policy initiative. Outside of class, Grant works in an epidemiology and computational biology lab at Georgetown University.

Sophia is a second-semester graduate student pursuing her M.S. in Physiology & Biophysics at Georgetown University's School of Biomedical Graduate Education. She received her B.A. from Wesleyan University in Neuroscience & Behavior with a minor in Art History. Here at The Vannevar Group, Sophia is a content manager and works on the Picking Up STEAM policy initiative. In her free time, she enjoys anything art related (drawing, painting, etc.) and is an avid stress baker for any and all sweet tooth needs.

Ryan Houser is a graduate student in the Executive Emergency and Disaster Management and Biohazardous Threat Agents and Emerging Infectious Disease Programs at Georgetown University. He earned a B.A in Psychology from Rutgers University and a M.S. in Psychology, with a concentration in Forensic Psychology, from Southern New Hampshire University. Ryan has also received a Graduate Certificate in Advanced Counterterrorism and Homeland Security. At The Vannevar Group, Ryan assists with outreach & communications as well as the Momnibus Plus policy initiative. In his free time, Ryan enjoys spending time with his dog and at the Jersey Shore.

She received her B.S. from the University of Maryland in Public Health Sciences with a minor in Communications. At The Vannevar Group, Emel helps manage the website while working on the Science Policy for Undergraduate Development (S.P.U.D.) initiative. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and interior design.

Ivysara is a second-semester graduate student pursuing her M.S. in Physiology and Biophysics at Georgetown University’s School of Biomedical Graduate Education. She received her B.S. in Biology from Howard University with minors in Chemistry and Classics. Here at The Vannevar Group, Ivysara works on the website team and the Building BLOCKs policy initiative. In her free time, she plays tennis and enjoys reading.

Noah is a part-time student in Georgetown University’s Biomedical Science Policy and Advocacy program and is the current Vice President of Georgetown’s GHS NextGen chapter. She received her B.A. from American University in International Studies. At The Vannevar Group, Noah oversees branding and graphics and works on the SpacePox policy initiative. Outside of class, Noah leads a global forum of public health practitioners, the Coalition against Typhoid at Sabin Vaccine Institute
