Veterans are known to suffer from higher rates of chronic illnesses, even when accounting for confounding variables such as income and smoking status. Despite this, very little exists within the Veteran's Affairs to creatively address these chronic illnesses through evidence based best practices. One such approach is medically tailored meals, which provide nutrient dense, tailored meals to people suffering from chronic disease. We propose the creation of a pilot program within the Veteran's Affairs that provide medically tailored meals to veterans suffering from at lease one chronic illness, using infrastructure built out by private industry meal prep companies. Our goal is focusing on a long term perspective- food security, chronic disease, specifically within veteran's demographic using medically-tailored meals.
